Rainbow Ridge

Rainbow Ridge parallels the Richardson Highway for eight miles through the Alaska Range about 150 miles south of Fairbanks and just north of Isabel Pass.

Rainbow Mountain, 6550' high, is known for fossils and two rock glaciers that are slowly flowing toward the highway.

The Delta River parallels the highway to the west. The mountains were named for their varicolored talus slopes. The reds and greens are volcanic rocks. The yellows and pastels are siltstone and sandstone.
